Frequently asked Questions
Frequently asked Questions
We've put together answers to some of the questions we've been asked most. Have a read through and hopefully you'll find what you're looking for.
If your question isn't covered here, please don't hesitate to get in touch — we're always happy to help. And who knows, your question might just make it onto the list for other guests too!
What should I wear?
We want you to be comfortable and stylish!
Our dress code is semi-formal, but most importantly we want you to feel like yourself. Wear what makes you feel confident and happy
For the Gents whether that's a classic suit, smart trousers or chinos and a shirt.
For the ladies, dresses, jumpsuits, smart trousers with a blouse or top — anything that feels dressed up and feels like you.
Or even smart shorts if that's your thing (we won't judge — it is an island after all, even if it is October!).
The most important thing is that you arrive happy, comfortable and ready to celebrate with us!
Can we take Pictures?
Yes and no!
We kindly ask that during the ceremony you keep your phones away and just be present with us, we want to see your faces, not the backs of your phones. Don't worry though, we have a photographer capturing every moment.
Once the ceremony is over, feel free to snap away to your heart's content. The one thing we do ask is that you hold off posting any photos of us on social media until the following day. We've arranged with our photographer to have at least a couple of shots ready to share ourselves first.
And if you want to share your pictures with us after the day there will be a link to the Google folder on the gallery page!
What Gift can I get you?
Honestly? Just you being there is more than enough.
For many of you, travelling to Guernsey is no small thing — the effort, the planning and the cost of getting here means the world to us and we genuinely could not ask for more. For those of you lucky enough to be local, well, you have already paid your dues in keeping us sane, grounded and laughing — and we would not swap your company for anything.
We do not expect or require gifts, and with that in mind we have decided not to put together a gift list — mostly because we genuinely have no idea what we would even put on one.
We will have a card box on the day and if you are absolutely desperate to give something then a contribution to our travels is always gratefully received, but truly, please do not feel any obligation whatsoever. Your presence at our wedding is the only gift we could wish for.
Can I bring a plus one?
We’d love for everyone to be surrounded by loved ones! If your invitation includes a plus one, you’ll see their name or +1 on the RSVP. For the evening reception however, the more the merrier.
Can we bring children?
Our invitations indicate whether children are included in your specific invite, so please take a look at your invite first.
For the ceremony, we unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests beyond those named on your invite, we have strict numbers and seating to consider. If this is a problem for any reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly and we'll do our best to help.
For the evening reception however, the more the merrier — little ones are welcome and we'd love to see them there!
If your children are attending, please let us know in advance so we can account for them in numbers and seating.
What happens after the ceremony?
Following the ceremony we will head into the Brasserie for drinks and photographs — and if you haven't already had a chance to take in just how stunning the Old Government House Hotel is, this is your moment!
When dinner is ready you will be called through to the dining room, where the celebrations continue with a delicious meal, heartfelt speeches, and dancing well into the evening. Expect lots of laughter, lots of love, and lots of celebrating!

What’s the weather like?
The good news? Our wedding is 100% indoors and cozy. The "Guernsey news"? October likes to show off its wild side with fresh breezes and a high chance of "liquid sunshine." Expect temperatures around 13-15°C. We recommend a sturdy umbrella and a wrap for the journey to and from the venue—think "chic but wind-resistant."
Taxis & Getting Around
Guernsey has a fantastic bus service that's reliable and easy to use. You can plan your journey and check timetables at buses.gg or download their app.
For taxis, the local "Guernsey Taxi App" is the easiest way to book. If you're staying outside of St Peter Port town centre, such as at the Premier Inn, we'd recommend booking in advance rather than trying to hail one. If you do want to use the taxi rank, it's around a 10 minute walk downhill from our venue.
Our discounted room rates
We have a slight discount with the OGH, but in all honesty the other hotels we've recommended will be a lot cheaper. However, if you do fancy a 5-star night, the rates are below — these are on a first come, first served basis as rooms are limited.
